The Understanding China Conference 2021 will be held in Guangzhou from December 1 to 4. Themed "Whence and Whither-- Unprecedented Changes in the World and China and the CPC," the event will attract former heads of state, as well as representatives from political, academic, and business circles from home and abroad to carry out profound discussions and extensive exchanges, in a bid to enhance mutual understanding between China and the rest of the world.

Li Junru, vice chairman of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, said at a press conference that this year's conference will set up a series of activities, including an opening ceremony, keynote speeches, 6 forums and 12 parallel seminars.
According to Li Junru, Rosen Plevneliev, former President of Bulgaria, Kevin Rudd, former Prime Minister of Australia, Essam Sharaf, former Prime Minister of Egypt, Mario Monti, former Prime Minister of Italy, Tariq Aziz, former Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq, Yves Leterme, former Prime Minister of Belgium, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, former Prime Minister of Spain and other international guests will attend this conference online and offline.

Deng Hong, Deputy director-general of the Information Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, noted that around 100 guests will attend this conference online and 500 offline. “For now, we have confirmed that 539 guests will appear this conference, including Ivan Melnikov, the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Lui Tuck Yew, Singapore's Ambassador to China and 460 Chinese guests, of which 202 will deliver speeches,” Deng said.
This year also marks the 100th Anniversary of the Communist Party of China, the conference will also provide opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of the Communist Party of China.
Launched in 2013, the Understanding China Conference has served as a platform for the world to understand China's development. And this year's conference marks the sixth of its kind. It will be the third time it has taken place in Guangzhou.
