4th GBA Guitar Culture & Arts Festival kicks off in Huizhou

The 4th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Guitar Culture and Arts Festival launched on the evening of October 2 at Dongjiang Park Square in Huizhou.

As a key segment of the 5th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival, the event is co-organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Huizhou Municipal People's Government.

The opening ceremony featured a diverse lineup of performances, blending innovative interpretations of classical melodies with cross-genre artistic experiments. From ethnic-inspired compositions to local folk sounds, the program was unified by the theme of "cultural resonance," building a bridge for musical exchange between China and the world.

During the ceremony, Huizhou-born athletes, including Wang Yaoxi, Zhang Mengyu, Zhang Xinyu, Zheng Haohao, and Chen Ye, greeted and interacted with the audience via video. The guitar festival is one of the cultural activities supporting Huizhou's role as a host city for the 15th National Games and Paralympic Games.

Huizhou will host five events during the Games—taekwondo, skateboarding, roller skating, and others—with over 1,500 athletes from across the country set to compete. This marks the highest-level comprehensive sports event ever held in Huizhou. Nearly 20 athletes from the city will represent Guangdong in taekwondo, skateboarding, athletics, and equestrian.

In addition to the opening ceremony, a guitar industry exhibition was held on the same day. Starting in October, a series of "Guitar Culture Outreach" activities will be rolled out in rural areas, commercial districts, and scenic spots across Huiyang (惠阳) and the NanKunshan-Luofushan pilot zone (环南昆山-罗浮山引领区).

From October to December, the "Cyber Guitar Public Art Promotion Initiative" will also be launched. The Huizhou Cultural Center will partner with local music brands to offer guitar training courses and introduce "shared music rooms" and "pop-up cyber guitar stores."
