On June 19, a delegation of 31 overseas compartriots from Malaysia visited Dianbai District, Maoming City, Guangdong Province, to explore economic and trade opportunities while witnessing the region's rapid transformation.

The group toured key sites—including the hometown of historical figure Madam Xian—
and experienced Dianbai's growth in construction, agriculture, marine resources, and the business environment. For many, it was a meaningful return to their ancestral roots.

For some, the trip marked a long-awaited return to their ancestral home.

"I can't believe the changes—new roads, buildings, public facilities—everything feels brand new," said Wu Senye, 75, who left for Malaysia at age of six and returned after three decades. Fellow returnee Li Guanmu added, "The development here is beyond imagination. We're proud to be overseas Chinese."

Mo Guan Lai, the group's organizer, described the emotional impact of reconnecting with hometown culture and emphasized the delegation's role in fostering future cooperation. Plans include regular exchanges with the Dianbai Chamber of Commerce in areas such as agriculture, cultural tourism, and construction labor exports—aligned with Dianbai's strategic focus as a coastal development hub.

A local official from the Dianbai District Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese reaffirmed the district's commitment to supporting overseas investors and welcomed greater participation in the region's economic growth.
